25 Jul Schools out for summer – The lights are on but no ones in!

Do you know about the flicker risks for kids?

Four fifths of British school children are having their learning impaired and are at risk from anxiety, migraines, headaches and even dyslexia from flickering lighting, an expert scientist has warned[1].

This is a staggering figure and something many of us are completely unaware of, but it does present a real risk for children who are spending, on average, 32 hours a week working in school buildings.

With around 80% of UK schools still being lit with lighting that flickers at 100 hertz (Hz), within a range which could be degrading visual performance for young people, this problem appears to be widespread.

With the schools now out for summer, the school buildings are quiet, providing the perfect chance to attend to maintenance, furnishings and better lighting solutions, to not only benefit the pupils, but save money and reduce the impact on our environment.

LED lighting provides enormous benefits, both environmental and cost-saving benefits, which also includes instant lighting without flicker.

We at RS Lighting are helping Business Managers and Site Managers phase in such solutions. We are passionate about what we do, how we learn and how we create better learning surroundings for the future.
